FAQ

Photo Session

How long will our session last?

Usually, a session will take about 1 hour, depending on weather, travel between locations, and how much fun we’re having.

Where will we have our pictures taken?

I do not do studio portraits, as they feel too stuffy and formal. If you have a preferred location, please let me know – especially if there is a place that has special meaning to you, such as where your fiancé proposed, a favourite activity for your family or a favourite place to eat.

What time of day is best for pictures?

The early morning or the late evening is best for photos right when the sun is rising or setting. If you are planning on having your hair and makeup done for your session you will have an easier time scheduling your photo shoot in the late afternoon. I like to schedule sessions 1 – 1 ½ hours before sunset.

What should we wear?

I want you to be comfortable in your OWN style. Feel free to bring several outfits, and make sure you consider the entire outfit including jewellery, hats, belt, scarf, shoes etc. because your entire body will show in many shots. Try to avoid anything with logos and patterns as these are distracting and look dated with time. Families don’t need to match perfectly, dress in various colours that complement each other. Also, please consider that we may be tramping through the grass, a field, or even wet areas (snow), so extra shoes may be a good idea.

What about props?

Bring them! Especially if they mean something extra special to your relationship, wedding or family – such as a guitar, a motorcycle or classic car, or a hand-painted sign with your wedding date. Surf around the web and see what others have done – there are some amazing ideas out there. Pinterest is a great source for ideas.

You are also welcome to bring your dog along. Just make sure you have a leash and someone that is able to look after him/her as you will be busy with photos that do not include him/her.

Please inform me before hand of any pets and props you plan to bring. I will be prepared and will suggest locations based on pets and props.

When will we see our photos?

Standard turn-around time is about 2 weeks. If we need to rush certain images (Save the Date shots, for instance), discuss that with me ahead of time and I’ll be sure to have that ready by the required date. You will receive your photos with personal copyrights on a disc.
